about

hi! i’m coubey

pencil, paper, emotions. that’s usually where it starts for me.

i’m coubey, a prague-based indie-folk-pop songwriter, and honestly about 80% of my songs are just me trying to figure out my own world. places, experiences, memories, feelings i don’t fully understand yet. if you’ve ever felt a little lost in life, you’ll probably find something here. i do too, all the time.

whether you’re in the mood to dance or just lay on the grass and let the evening go wherever it goes, there’s always a place for you.

i’ve been playing shows since 2023, from festivals like Colours of Ostravaand Votvírák to small clubs abroad. i love collaborating with people. producer 13AM has been by my side a lot, and i’ve gotten to work with some really beautiful names like Thom Fröde, Thom Artway, or italian producer Matilde Davoli.

right now all my energy is going into my third album Perspectives and its release show at Rock Café Prahathis september. can’t wait to see you there.

rapid fire

first song?

one of the first that really touched me was Lego House / The A Team by Ed Sheeran.

favourite word?

in english probably "turtle" or right now "low-key" (thanks stranger things). but czech has so many beautiful ones. i really like names of flowers like "sedmikráska" (wildflower) or "pampeliška" (dandelion). and just the word "krásný", which means beautiful. yeah.

writing rituals?

honestly my ritual is not having one, doing the same thing every time would kill me. but it always starts with a voice note on my phone. first i try to understand what's actually coming out of me. then i try to give it a direction.

dream stage?

right now for real Rock Café — i saw Mighty Oaks and Giant Rook there, bands i grew up with in my late teens. the atmosphere was always something else. i want to do that too. and one day, somewhere unusual where thousands of people could fit. Verona amphitheatre. some legendary underground club in the UK or Australia.

non-music obsession?

combining weird food ingredients together. and thinking of some completely new project idea and immediately realising i have absolutely no time for it.
